A very special place
We overnighted in Ross, Tas. I don't know if the commencement of spring that influenced my experience or if the town itself was just magical. Ross is a very small town located in the central midlands of Tasmania. The flat pasture lands dotted with sheep line the main highway for miles on our travels to Ross. Ross is a quaint townrecognized as a national trust for its old historical buildings. The roads are so quiet this time of year that we ambled down the middle of the street from one end to the other without a concern for traffic. A friendly jack russel interested in Ruby followed us the entire way. Old referbished houses with old world charm line the neighborhood street along with their beautiful blooming english styled gardens . Uptop a lone hill sits a old cemetary typical of many small Tasmanian town. The impressive tombstones date back to early 1800. Many of the stones were engraved with womens names who ended their existances at the female prison in Ross. The wind quietly whistles through the yard a top the hill, over looking the green pastures which seem never ending. It was a very magical place. We all had a peaceful think while there.
The best part about Ross was the bakery where we had "morning tea". That is the Aussie way of saying mid morning snack with coffee. The croissants were especially good. The same jack russel named Jack was there cleaning up all the crumbs. We all agreed Ross was a special place and we plan to go back.
