Oh my god!!!! That it gross but I can't stop looking at it. Could you imagine the damage to your leg. That would definitely stop me from going in the waters. Wether the Aussies are nonchalant or not. In all my years on the coast, I have never seen anything close to that. Happy suntanning.
Okay let me clarify, I know we don't have killers like that around. Just so you didn't think I was really naive.
Mrs Wilson,
Can.waters have them too. It is just too darn cold to swim in Canada so you rarely hear about attacks. Here...it is warmer. The waters are clear and often protected with cozy little coves just calling for swimmers, surfers, snokelers, divers ect. Just the other day some ones dog was attacked while it was fetching the ball out of the surf. Yikes.
Hi Wendy,
We’re still game for the GBR; after all, there is more risk of dying from melanoma consequential to lying on the beach than being eaten in the water.
We had a dead whale come ashore Christmas eve that was killed by the cookie cutter shark. It had a number of partially healed wounds but one in the through the abdominal wall that was probably the cause of death. If you want a odd story for the childrens’ bedtime, the tale of how the cookie cutter feeds could be a good one.
By the way, for Mrs. Wilson:
The only Great White I have ever seen in the wild was an 16 footer about 3 km off Stanhope, PEI. I was sailing a sunfish and in the water as much as out. The reason I know the size was that a fisherman was seining mackeral a couple of hunded metres away and caught it.
Andrew,
I am more worried about the crocs at the GBR. However we are all going to go someway or another. Might as well be swimming in warm stunning, clearwaters, when it happens. GBR here we come.
FYI' Todays news from Brisbane reported a 21yr girl attacked by several bull sharks. Took both her arms then part of a leg. Then started on her torso when she was pulled from the water. She died of shock in hospital later on that day.
Yes we maybe more likely to be struck by lightning then attacked by a shark but I still don't feel good about standing in an open field during a lightning strom.
Oh my god. Something else for me to worry about! Crocs and sharks. Be careful!!!
