House for a Parrot

We had a great playdate with two friends that visit often. I took them to a look out point above the Queens Domaine, above Hobart. The view of sprawing golden islands circled by blue water was amazing. We had a sausage sizzle picnic, fed birds, and squashed bugs. The highlight of the day was finding the parrots home in the tree. Here it is hiding out waiting for the next bread crumb to be thrown. Posted by Picasa

What a gorgeous parrot. Isn't it amazing how these beautiful birds are part of daily life in Australia? We are so lucky!

That's so sweet. How lucky to see a nesting bird.

Tea cake - I can't describe it that well. This one had pieces of apple and cinnamon on top. It's heavier than a sponge cake. And I figure it's eaten with a cup of tea, rather than being made of tea. Did I ever mention that I CANNOT cook? If not, then this comment is proof :)
