A Little Bushwalk
About 1 hr. drive from Hobart is Hartz National Park. We ventured out for a short bushwalk to Lake Esparanza. Once up the Hartz Mountain the views were panoramic. It wasn't as clear of a day as I had hoped. Fires burning left a haze evident in my pictures. I will have to go back on a clear day for some better photos.
The trail to the lake was in the Alpine. The flauna was so strange it reminded me of prehistoric times. I could just imagine a gentle Brontasaurus grazing in the backdrop. My son was imagining a T-Rex chasing that Brontasaurus. However the only scary life was the jumbo bitting flies and ozzie mozzies that lunched on us as we lunched on sandwhiches.
All and all a great bushwalk!

Hello Wendy..
Discovered your blog by a series of links (starting from Alice I think). However, I have enjoyed reading about your new life in Tasmania, it looks a beautiful country. Here's wishng you much happiness in your new home. Marion
I've loved looking through your photos of Tasmania. The one of the truck taking all your worldly goods away at the start of your journey reminded me of something similar I did in 1974 coming from California to Melbourne. I hope you continue to enjoy your adventure!
Hi Wendy,
You are certainly seeing a lot of the state, you have been to places that I haven't (Queenstown) and I was there 30 years!
I know what you mean about house prices I have been checking the real estate online. My brother bought his house about 15 years ago for $55,000 and now it is worth $160,000, unbelievable.
Donna
Sounds wonderful! Your pictures are breathtaking. What a lovely place! What kind of camera do you use?
I don't miss those jumbo biting flies and ozzie mozzies but we have some nasties of our own. The little black flies that afflict us in the spring actually draw blood and the deer fly bites hurt like, well, you know!
Kerri- We had black flies in BC Canada. They were horrible. Occasionally when they were swarming I'd accidently swallow one. Yuck!
Marion- Thanks for stopping in. I am looking forward to visiting your blog.
Val-Love your profile picture. Welcome fellow Californian
Donna- Houseing price have double just in the last 4 years all over the state. Ouch!
Kerri-I forgot to answer- I use a Cannon S1. It is a fine Jack of all trades kinda camera. I really would like something fancy someday.
You are so practical Wendy. Go get something fancy! You deserve it!
Your in real wilderness formed by glaciers during past ice ages, as your wonderful pictures tell us.
As you probably aware this park like many others is in a part of the World Heritage Area but is unique that is Australia's closest to any capital within just 52 miles of Hobart as you mention.
Yet it covers an area 7,250 hectares (17,915 acres)of pristine wilderness.
Thanks Lindsey. Your always so good at adding the factual stuff that my mommy brain breezes over. I just love discovering all the new places here.
