Moving Again!

This is the our container full of all our lifes possesions leaving Canada in April 05 enroute to Seattle Wa. USA and on to Hobart Tas. It was a sad day as I watched it leave however the days to follow were much sadder. Saying goodby to our friends was the hardest of all especially when we had 14 years of friendships. Sigh...sniffle, sniffle.

So we are moving again. This time it is only to the next community of Blackmans Bay. We finally bought a home. We can't wait until we can unpack the boxes still packed, stored under the house. I have forgotten what treasures lie below. We can put up our artwork, build a tree house, sand box, fire pit, or whatever. I am ready for a long awaited settle.

Now..the list, cancel phone, electric, broad band, address forward, book movers, transfer funds, reply to solicitor, collect boxes, tidy rental yard, notice of vacancy, insurance...the list goes on.

The we purchased is a lovely 12 yr. old 5 bed/2bth. home in a great area. We even have a small view of the NW bay from our large 3/4 acre yard. The street is lined with Eucalyptus trees and very private. That was the main attraction. It is close to school and lots of kids on the block. We need some renovations...the first being insulation and double glazed window so we can feel warm again in winter. Can't wait to get out of this rental. Posted by Picasa

Hi Wendy

From my experience its makes such a difference having your own home, which helps establish a firm link to your community and school.

Congratulations and I look forward to seeing some pictures of your new abode.

I'm sure Tassie (and Australia) are thrilled enterprising families like yourself are making a new home here with us.

Best wishes

Hi Wendy,
Congratulations on your new home, Blackmans Bay is a nice area.
Does this mean you will be living in Tassie longer than 2 years?

Oh yes, I remember the containers when we moved from here in NY State back to Australia in 1979...and then came back here 3 and a half years later. Packing to move anywhere is hard, but packing to move overseas is HORRIBLE! Good luck remembering all that stuff you have to do :) You seem to have a good handle on it.
I've visited before but haven't left a comment. Enjoy your blog!

Kerri- Thanks for the comment. NY! Broadway and Bagles. Yum! What an experience it was living out of a suitcase for two month while your lifes posessions bobed around the open ocean? My girlfriend moving to NZ from Canada mistakenly packed her passport in the container. She was lucky enough to have someone retriever it from the container just before it left port. Our next move will be easy compared to the overseas one. Stop in again!

Lindsey-Having your own place makes all the difference in the world.

Welcome to Australia (again - this time for longer). Great to see your adventure will continue for a while yet, and great for us readers who get to live it through you. My advice for moving - pay someone else to do it for you :)

Hi Wendy,
I would love to meet you when I get back there. Our house should be on the market by the end of February. Hopefully it won't take too long to sell, we are in a working class area and houses around us are not selling very quickly.

Sandy- I am going to need some color/flooring suggestions. I will go over our options when we come to visit (looks like later rather then sooner now)

Kathleen-The great passport rescuer! That was a great story. Lets have duel house warming party via email. Pick a date, sip drinks, and spell badly unil late in the night.

Tanya-The movers are already booked. I am going to the Spa until it is over.

Donna-Have you seen the prices of houses here lately. Yikes? Prices are dropping but barely. Bring your insulation with you.

Connie- Thanks. We can't wait.

Sounds good but lets not fight about it. A dual party would be better than a duel. Oh, Damn, that was what you meant about the spelling, wasn't it.
