Mark found an orphaned wallaby. Mark was comming home from Stron, a town on the west coast of Tassie, when he stopped to check a wallaby on the side of the road. In it's pouch was a small hairless baby. The mom and baby were still warm. He carefully put it into a warm knitted tooke and attempted to be mommy wallaby. The sad news is that the poor little thing died just an hour after. So sad.

Mark way to go for checking the pouch. Instead of a road side emergency kit for your car, it'll be one for the roadkill. I have to say, I check daily for the roadkill updates now. You've got me fasinated.

It is really facinating. I have a hard time driving by a dead animal now with out a little voice in my head telling me to stop and just to check. Poor little babies left in the pouch to die. I have to save them. Who would have thought it???

I have heard stories of people here in the US giving car-struck female pregnant deer emergency C-section to save the unborn fawn after the mother dies. It would be way easier to just check a pouch!
