I Ate The Aussie Icon

These are tamed roos at a wildlife refuge called Bonorong. However at The Taste of Tasmania I sampled several Aussie game meats. The Kangaroo medallions were excellent. They were lean and very similar to beef. Tender and not at all gamey. I would recommend them. Next on the plate was the buffalo. Yuck! very strong. Definently a challange. Finally was the ostrich burger. It was my favorite of all. I'd order it again. Who would have thought I'd be living in Tasmania eating roo. It all seems so surreal. Posted by Picasa

Connie,
Drop in anytime. The great thing about these blogs is learning how others live and think in other places. So much fun!

Sandy,
When I come back to Canada, I am going to bring back some Vegemite for you to try. Now that is adventurous!

IGA used to carry marmite, bet QF or Save on Foods has it. Vegemite might be available too. I don't think there is any difference in flavor (unfortunately). Andrew has always eaten his on toast with cheese.

Wendy,
I Haven't found anything that exotic to taste here in NZ. Would be shot if I tried to eat a Kiwi. Cave Weta anywone?
