The Canadian/Tassie Sunday

That is me at 41. I was pretty proud that I could still get up on a single. I was even hot doggin it a bit.
This Sunday we were invited to the CEO's(MRY) beach house for a Barbie. It was a warm sunny day in Opposume Bay. The kids headed straight for the sand and surf as we sat on the deck of the beach house and enjoyed beverages. There was 7 Canadians and two Tasmanians. We all shared stories about each others countries and custom in the best of humor. Lunch was steak sandwiches with carmalized onions and salad. Yummmmmy. MRY brough out his boat and we all skied or road the seabiscuit (intertube). We were then served cheese, fruit, and sweets. We played beach cricket. It was a first for me. Lots of fun. I wasn't half bad. It was a hoot. I don't think life gets much better then this. Posted by Picasa

Good job on the ski. I can't wait for summer here. Just those pics makes me want to go to the lake and hang out. I bet you guys are loving it there, it must be like summer vacation all year around.

I want S to become an overseas pilot for a year, maybe I need your blog as my screensaver. I hope this trip is all that you thought and more.

Hi Wendy,
You don't know me but I stumbled upon your blog. I am a Tasmanian living in the U.S. at the moment. I hope I didn't intrude by looking at your pictures but they are wonderful and bring back great memories. I will be moving back to Tassie in about a year and can't wait. All the best to you and your family.

Donna,
Where do you live in the U.S? I grew up in Souther California. How long have you been away from Tassie?
Do you have a blog? I am interested in your thoughts on living in a N.A. Please visit here again.

Hi Wendy,
We are in West Virginia. I have been here 10 years. My husband was a Marine who was on a Navy ship that visited Hobart. I don't have a blog I am being naughty and surfing the internet while at work. We have already started getting rid of some of our stuff in preparation for the move and our old computer has gone already.
I have made some wonderful friends here in WV most of the people are so friendly but honestly I can't see a good future for my girls here, we have 3 (9, 7 and 4). So that is one of the main reasons for moving back to Tas. And the fact that I never got over my home sickness!

Donna,
I can see why you are homesick. Tassie reminds me so much of California in the early 70's before the dot comm-ers moved in with the mega mansions, or the superstores, dogs could still run on beaches, and traffic was actually moving. The attitude was casual, beachy and optomistic. Life was spent enjoying the simple things like a barbie with friends on a sunday.

Tassie is like that. It still a bit wild and free and still a bit backward (not insulating the houses is very backwards). The aquisition of $$ and things isn't central. Life is still simple here.

Please drop in often. Comment. Hope we can meet up when you come back.

Cheers
Wendy
